Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Archive of the Extraordinary marketplace ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to both buyers and sellers.

"Platform" refers to the Archive of the Extraordinary marketplace and all associated services. "Maker" or "Vendor" refers to a registered user who lists and sells pieces on the Platform. "Buyer" or "Collector" refers to a registered or guest user who purchases pieces. "Piece" refers to any handmade item listed for sale.

As a buyer, you agree to:

• Provide accurate shipping and payment information at checkout.
• Pay the full listed price plus applicable shipping costs at the time of purchase.
• Inspect pieces upon delivery and report any damage within 48 hours.
• Return unwanted pieces within the 14-day return window in original condition, as outlined in our Returns Policy.
• Not resell pieces purchased from the Platform as "new" or "handmade by you" on other marketplaces.

Payments are processed securely through Base44 Payments. The Platform does not store your full card details.

As a maker, you agree to:

• Maintain an active subscription (Artisan, Studio, or Master tier) to list pieces on the Platform.
• Only list pieces that you or your studio have handmade. No mass-produced or resold items.
• Provide accurate descriptions, materials, dimensions, and photographs for every listing.
• Set fair prices and honour them at checkout.
• Dispatch sold pieces within 3 working days using a tracked, insured service.
• Update order status through the Order Management system.
• Accept returns within the 14-day window and cooperate with the refund process.
• Not list prohibited items as defined in our Community Guidelines.

The Platform charges no commission on sales. Makers retain 100% of the listed price minus standard payment processing fees. Subscription fees are billed monthly via Base44 Payments and can be cancelled at any time.

Vendors subscribe to one of three monthly plans. Subscription fees grant the right to list pieces up to the plan's product limit. Plans can be upgraded, downgraded, or cancelled at any time. Changes take effect on the next billing cycle. See our Subscription Plans page for current pricing.

Makers retain all intellectual property rights to their designs, photography, and descriptions. The Platform receives a limited licence to display listed content for the purpose of operating the marketplace. Buyers acquire the physical piece but not the rights to reproduce the maker's designs.

The Platform name, logo, and visual identity are the property of Archive of the Extraordinary and may not be used without written permission.

The Platform acts as a facilitator between buyers and makers. We are not the seller of record for any piece. While we verify makers and mediate disputes, we are not liable for:

• Delays or failures in shipping beyond our control.
• The quality, safety, or authenticity of individual pieces (though we enforce quality standards).
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of the Platform.

Our total liability is limited to the transaction value of the specific piece in dispute.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines. Vendors may cancel their subscription and close their account at any time. Active orders must be fulfilled before account closure. Buyers may request account deletion at any time, subject to our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
